Buffalo is an open source, provider agnostic data spatial delivery platform.

A loosely coupled, message based spatial data delivery and analytical platform based on free and open source GIS. The platform abstracts the user from the inherent complexity of the platform and provides a wizard based friendly user interface to setup a spatial data infrastructure. The delivery system relies on one or more providers and the platform is capable of orchestrating the capability to generate the desired output. The platform also supports the extension of the capabilities by themselves by exposing common interfaces.

The platform is self growing with community development support. The open source community is welcome to contribute to the cause. Data World will provide the infrastructure for community developments (Forums, Wikis, Mail Managers)
The data is delivered with multiple options depending on the consumer requirements.

Some of the delivery mechanisms are described below:

  1. Enterprise Solutions: User has a technical team and wants the data for local use. User deploys the platform and the providers and setup a spatial data catalogue using the UI tool , set up data sources and select from available templates. The user is ready for publishing.

  2. Hosted Solution: The user wants to publish the data with minimal cost and does not have technological arm to support the technology. The user can opt for a hosted service which is managed by Data World. Data World will setup data sources, create catalogues, publish and maintain the data for the user. The infrastructure will be provided by the Data World too. Many such users can used this shared hosted service and significantly reduce cost and the need for technical knowhow.
